I was going to drop you a line about the format change! It's striking. I love to hear your voice. There is something about the artfully edited interview without interviewers that I prize about the first umpty years of Song Exploders, but I'm very eager to enjoy the next chapter as something new. Away we go!
I loved the Our House episode - one of my all time favorite songs, and it was so fun to hear the story behind it! I noticed the format change and didn't mind it at all - you inserted yourself without being overly obtrusive.
Echoing here that I'm a longtime listener of Song Exploder and I love the format change. I know you've talked previously about editing out your questions, but I really love the addition. It makes the episodes feel more complete. Please keep it in. Truly loved the Our House episode. A balm that I didn't know that I needed.
I discovered you on TWWW, have enjoyed all of your music that I can find and am now unpacking Song Exploder. I've probably digested just 40 of your back catalogue. I was struck by hearing your voice and am conflicted. I loved the singular perspective of the artist and the completeness of that experience. But you have a great voice and it's a pleasure to listen to.
Overall I'd take SE with you on mute, and invite you to create another pod where you can deliver some HH vocal therapy.
I noticed the change in the podcast, but I like it. Song Exploder is my favorite podcast and the extra bit of back and forth ads a nice bit of warmth to the interview.
I love your voice in the recent eps! Hearing your questions helps me follow the logic of the interview a bit better -- not that the previous format was hard to follow! I think my beleaguered brain just appreciates the novelty of the voices alternating. And man, that "Our House" episode is so incredibly special. I'm really, really glad it exists in the world.
Ok, I noticed the episode format change immediately, and I loved it! I wondered if there was a reason for the change, or if it was something I just hadn’t noticed (I had missed a few episodes before Our House, and just started with that one). I enjoyed hearing your interview questions and seeing how some of the answers/stories from the artists came up! I do think the old format was unique in that it put all of the focus on the interviewee, however I don’t think keeping your voice in has detracted from the show or made it less unique. It’s just a wonderful show that you have created and I recommend it to people constantly!
Off to make some chocolate chip cookies. Beautiful tribute to the best handheld treat out there!
My husband and I listened to the Our House episode on election night and it was the most comforting salve/escape on an unsettling night. Can’t wait to listen to the Deceptacon one. Thank you!
Hrishi, the Toll House cookie is the only thing I know how to bake well. People have applauded when they see me coming with them. The secret, which I discovered by accident: substitute unsalted butter the recipe calls for with salted butter. The umami of it makes it all the more heavenly. Also, love the new Song Exploder format; you're such a great interviewer, so it's nice to hear your voice.
I’m a long time listener of Song Exploder and literally hadn’t noticed the change in format, although now you mention it there was a bit more Hrishi in there, which is never a bad thing!
So there are a lot of variations on Chocolate chip cookies—but I’ll give you that the original is pretty darn good. But if you like nuts, I don’t think there is a better cookie than the roasted pecan chocolate chip cookies from Shirley Coriher (a successful chemist and cookbook author—and friend of Alton Brown). Bakewise is her book with the recipe. I recommend it to anyone who appreciates a good chocolate chip cookie.

Love the conversational format with your voice.

I like the more conversational format for SE. You're a fantastic interviewer and your musical background makes for interesting context.
And tasty article on the choc chip cookies! They're so ubiquitous it's funny to think somebody actually had to invent them :)
Mom's Mango Pie Ice Cream will top off our Thanksgiving dinner again this year!

The perfect choice
