Hello! Come hang out with me this week!
This Sunday, I’ll be performing some of my songs in Keene, New Hampshire, at the Thing in the Spring Festival at Novo Arts. (tickets)
On Monday, I’m taping a live Song Exploder in Boston, at WBUR Cityspace. If you ever wondered what it would be like to hear the full, unedited interview that goes into an episode, this is your chance! Only the people in the room will hear the whole conversation between me and my guest, the wonderful artist Fenne Lily. Afterwards, Fenne will play some songs of hers. (tickets)
And on Friday afternoon, I’ll be back in Los Angeles and hosting a little meet-up at the J.Crew store in Century City. It’s free and open to the public. I’ll be spinning some songs, and I hope to meet and talk with anyone who wants to chat about music, podcasts, or Jude Law’s outfits in The Talented Mr Ripley. (RSVP here)
This word is overused but his style in that film can only be described as iconic. I look in the mirror while trying to get dressed and so often ask myself: WWJLITTMRD? (What Would Jude Law in The Talented Mr Ripley Do? I rewatched the film recently after losing steam trying to watch the new Netflix adaptation, which I hear cleaves closer to the books, but alas, for me, loses much of the beauty, charm, and heartbreak of the 1999 film.)
And further on this summer: I’ll be going on tour on the West Coast. I’m playing shows in LA, SF, Portland, and Seattle, supporting Owen, which is the solo project of my old friend Mike Kinsella from the band American Football. And there’s a special Song Exploder x Magnetic Fields live event (not for the podcast).
July 23 - Los Angeles, CA - Song Exploder live with Stephin Merritt (Magnetic Fields) on 69 Love Songs - at The Ford (tickets)
Tour dates with Owen:
July 24 - Los Angeles, CA at the Echo (tickets)
July 25 - San Francisco, CA at Bottom of the Hill (tickets)
August 5 - Portland, OR at Mississippi Studios (tickets)
August 6 - Seattle, WA at Madame Lou’s (tickets)
Hope to see you! And if you do come, please free to surprise me with the best and/or weirdest cookie or snack you love. I will accept them!
